The program that is the engine of this forum has gotten quite old. There are several updates - but we are at the point where our version is too old for an update - now I must install a new complete version.

I have downloaded the new software and I am currently reading through the installation process. HOPEFULLY when we come back up we will still have all our data - this is supposed to be able to happen.

That written they have cautions about losing data - I will keep you all posted when the change occurs so we can look for improvements with logging in and perhaps speed.

Since you have the WP Blog you must be familiar with backing up the database. The board is probably using the same one (mySQL). I recently switched to WordPress and have yet to back it up. Need to practice that soon

Sparks, if you use phpMyAdmin, backing up your WP database is wonderfuly simple. You can also install a plugin to do it automatically. check the codex - it is very easy.

Yes I did find the Plugin ... pretty smooth. Haven't done a restore yet as I decided WP2.9 was not worth the upgrade
